Strange, how I never saw you

For who you were

And you never saw me

For who I was.

But still.

Your elegant handwriting

Is imprinted in my mind.

Like leaves between the pages

Of a book that was left behind.

But still.

The sounds the keypad made

When I dialled your number

Ring as fresh and familiar

As the rhythm of my heart.

But still.

Your jibes, your taunts,

Your needs, your wants

Get drowned in the memory

Of your tinkling laughter.

Really.

Strange, how time can make

Hell seem beautiful

As if it were viewed through

Rose-tinted glasses.

Introducing: The Phoenix Initiative

TPI

Hey guys!

My friends and I have started a social project called The Phoenix Initiative. It is the rallying cry of teenagers against something they have to face and endure everyday – gender stereotypes.

No, liking pink does not make you “girly”, nor does liking to play sports make you a “tomboy”. Being a guy who loves to dance doesn’t make you “effeminate”. And oh, did I mention that every human has the right to cry without being judged?

GS

We, the Phoenixers, believe that even if we have changed a single person’s mindset, we have done something towards a better, safer world. We may not be old and wise, but we do know what is right and what is not.

We are sure that you too would have faced situations like this before. Join us. Rise from the ashes.

You can follow our blog, The Phoenix Initiative.

We are coming soon on YouTube and Twitter.

Ciao!

Heartfelt

Padding my heart with excuses

From the prick of my conscience

Been avoiding this for long

This was equally my fault

As much as it was yours.

Either I have gathered my guts

Or I’m drunk with stupidity

I hate to admit it, but

YES, I was responsible too

For burning down our

Non-existent bridges.

YES, I was the catalyst

Who sped our inevitable fall

Your mistake does not seem

As unforgivable as before

When I compare it with mine.

All those nostalgic days

Tinted with laughter…sigh…

I know we can’t remake our past

But now that it’s all said and done

Will you find it in your heart

To forgive my folly?

Delights of Dawn and Dusk

In a magical place, faraway,

Away from the hustle-bustle of today,

The stunning sapphire sea meets the sparkling sand,

A scene both magnificent and grand.

The colours change from blue to red

As all the darkness of the night is shed.

The sky goes to every shade it can find

As if it can’t quite make up its mind.

Then suddenly, a warm amber glow

Spreads in the sky, warming every soul.

The golden sun rises up and shines,

Rousing the sleeping creepers and vines.

A medley of colours brighten up the day

Showing the path, lighting the way.

From the awesome orange to the beautiful blue

To the welcoming white of the crystalline dew.

As dusk creeps in, the colours fade

To an enchanting mauvish shade.

The majestic sun makes its departure

As the world watches in silent rapture.

Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis

“You’re so ugly!” they said,

“Awkwardly green and squiggly!”

“Wiggling around like you own the

World, but as worthless as you seem!”

So discouraged, I started to spin

A thin, flimsy web around myself.

Thus cocooned inside, I had some

Quite time for self-introspection on

Where I had gone wrong, what I had done

To deserve such treatment, when finally it

Dawned on me that I wasn’t the one at fault,

They were the ones wrapped in their own ideas,

They were the ones who went wrong!

Realisation washed across me

Wave after wave, cleansing me of

My preconceived notions of myself.

I spread my wings, breaking the cocoon.

Finally, I was free from the bondage I was

Voluntarily chained to, but not any more!

Suddenly, I was no longer the awkward

Squiggly caterpillar the world knew before.

I had bright, colourful wings, filled with hope,

For spreading love and happiness everywhere.

Now, I had metamorphosed into something so

Delightful, for I was a magnificent butterfly!
